The Barbershop Quartet Preservation Association (BQPA/PIONEERS) is organized to encourage, promote and participate in quartet singing in the barbershop style as it is defined in the Style Definition on the official BQPA Website. Membership is open to all men and women who share our love of traditional barbershop harmony.
Upon submittal of an application and payment of a $20 fee they become members for life. Festival attendees, both members and guests, are encouraged to make a modest donation at the time of registration for each semi-annual festival. The donations are used to defray the cost of the festivals and expenses of the organization (paper & ink , BQPA membership pins, etc).
The Board of Directors consists of the President, Immediate Past President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Chairmen of the East and West festivals. The President is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He may appoint officers, assign duties, and establish committees and committee chairmen. There are no specific terms of office. Necessary replacements are made by the President. Decisions of the Board are made by majority vote and are reported to the membership at a general meeting held during each festival.
